Brion R. Smoker founded Smoker, Smith & Associates, P.C., in 1979, several years after graduating from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. He was certified as a CPA in Pennsylvania in 1976 and in West Virginia in 1986.
Smoker is past president of and senior advisor to the Center for Family Owned Businesses in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As past president and chairman of INPACT Americas, a national network of accounting firms, he is liaison to the Forum of Firms, a membership organization established up by the International Federation of Accountants to maintain quality standards and provide a disciplinary structure for accounting firms that conduct transnational audits.
Smoker has been extremely active in promoting international networking, focusing on positive interaction through INPACT International in Europe and INPACT Asia-Pacific. He has traveled extensively, attending and/or speaking at conferences throughout Europe and Asia. In 1999, Smoker established an exchange program with a German accounting firm.
