Gary R. Benware, CPA

Gary Benware has been the managing partner of Dragon Benware Crowley & Company, PC, since 1976.  Under his guidance, the firm has grown to multiple offices serving northern New York State.

Prior to joining the firm, he served as a staff accountant with Pete Marwick Mitchell & Co. (KPMG). His interest in accounting, gained while obtaining his business administration degree from Siena College, led to his CPA certification in 1974. Benware has also completed the National Association of Certified Evaluation Analysis (NACEA) program and holds Series 6, 63, and 65 securities licenses and works extensively with a subsidiary of the Wells Fargo Group providing financial advisory services. He teaches undergraduate college classes and seminars for government and corporate clients.

Benware specializes in tax and planning services and conducts research and counsels clients in compliance and litigation issues. He also has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations. As past president of the Adirondack Chapter of New York CPAs, his community activities also include board memberships in financial institutions, the Alice Hyde Medical Center and the Adirondack Community Trust, as well as additional youth-oriented nonprofit groups.
